Please clarify whether service tax on rent paid had to be borne by the landlord or the tenant ?. as per law who is supposed to bear the service tax .

It is the Landlord's duty to recover service tax from the tenant and then deposit the same with concerned authorities. Thus the tenant has to bear the tax.
