can we collect service tax if we don't have service tax number and same can pay to govt without having Service Tax number(here the amt of service is less than Rs.9lacs )

No with out the ST number you cant
if the amount is collected ,

then you should regiter immidiately

and deposit the amount.

other wise the service receiver cant avail the input credit.

16 October 2011 If your total turnover is less than the thresold limit then why are you collecting service tax and how you could charge service tax on your bill without having a service tax number..?? I think you should either take registration under ST or refund the excess amount so collected to the party. Otherwise it will surely create a chaos.
