24 November 2012 Sir we are a company engaged in construction of Residential Complex. We are receiving labor services regarding construction through a private firm of around Rs. 50/- lakhs. whether the private firm providing the services is required to charge service tax on the bill? If yes and if they have not charged the same what are the consequences?

25 November 2012 Yes. Private Co. is liable to service tax. But there is no consequences on your company. The default is of service provider only.
