Section instead of sub section

I'm a Ca Final student.
Can we use just section no. in case we don't remember the exact sub section while writing our answers in Corporate and Allied Law?
e.g. just 143 instead of 143(1) or 143(12).

You can write that like As per secion 143...
But mostly try to write the complete section and sub section to add value to ur answers
