05 October 2011 I have set up an export firm (proprietorship) in Mumbai, and i have the following Q.
1. Do i need to register with the Maharashtra Sales tax department?
2. The cost of sales tax registration is INR30,000. is a new business expected to invest such a high amount to start business?
3. How and from where can i get the Form H to claim sales tax exemption?

05 October 2011 Answer of Q-3. If u want to claim exemption, u have to first register under MVAT.

3.Cost of registration is 30000/- but out of which rs 25000/- is a deposit.U have set up a export firm then Rs 30000/- amount is negligible.
