Return Filing for NRI earning income abroad

This query is : Resolved

25 July 2017 one of my friend is non resident gone abroad for an employment. Is it required to report his income abroad in schedule FSI in ITR form while filing income tax return? As per sec. 9 of income tax act, global income of NR is not taxable in India. plz advise.

25 July 2017 Although the income is not taxable in India, it is advisable to file indian ITR in order to keep the flow of return filing yearwise.

25 July 2017 I am filing his return but my question is whether it is mandatory to fill up schedule FSI, TR in return???

25 July 2017 Not mandatory to fill up FSI.

It makes sense to fill FSI when the non resident is seeking double taxation benefit

25 July 2017 Thank you Sir...

26 July 2017 K Srinwas Sir,
Can you please provide me documentary support for the same? I tried a lot to find that but could not get it on internet.

28 July 2017 FSI is to be filled in case of claiming double taxation relief. If your friend is NOT claiming tax relief, then no need to fill FSI. And the schedule itself is the documentary evidence that FSI is required to be filled only in the case of claiming tax relief.

28 July 2017 Thank you Amol Sir...

29 July 2017 you are most welcome........
