03 May 2012 We are manufacturing & Trading of non excisable items. Our turn over is abount 400 crores . Now we want trading of Vitamin & Mineral which is excisable item .
Is it requre for taking excise registration .
Advise please

04 May 2012 Not compulsory.. under central excise rules provides that registration not required in case of manufacturing of goods which attracts NIL rate / exempted goods.

Trading is not manufacture except in case of deemed manufacture as specified ( Affixing of brand name , labeling or relabeling etc)
