12 April 2012 well explained by Mr. Pawan

insist him to give tax invoice in case of taxable item purchase

add. if your don't take tax invoice then you can not take Input tax credit as a dealer and you have to paid vat as URD purchase

so get tax invoice from seller

14 April 2012 Under VAT till you have proper Tax Invoice you cannot claim any set off of VAT and this cannot be entered in your books of account. If you record it it is a purchase without any supporting and may create problem at the time of assessment both under VAT and Income Tax.

So take the proper tax invoice. Now, what it should contain has been explained properly by Pawan Jajoo
