Regarding penalty

22 March 2010 Dear Sir,

Whether penalty u/s 271 F be imposed if return of income is not filed upto 31 st March of relevant asst year ,however income is below the minimum limit though tds has been deducted.

22 March 2010 Penalty can be levied in case of there is any tax payable outstanding and the same is paid as S. A. Tax.

The section 271F says that penalty may be levied and not must.
