06 March 2013 I had been allotted PANo. before marriage.....now I want to change my surname in PAN card....is it possible....what procedure I have to follow and what documents are required to be submitted with application..???

06 March 2013 The following is required for change of name -

For married ladies - change of name on account of marriage - marriage certificate, marriage invitation card, publication of 'name-change' in gazette, copy of passport showing husband's name (or vice versa).

application should be used when PAN has already been allotted to the applicant, but when data associated with the PAN (e.g. name of applicant / father's name / date of birth / address) is required to be updated in records of ITD. A new PAN card bearing the same PAN but updated information is issued to applicant.

While filling this form, applicant should select the relevant check box on the left margin of the form. The check box for Item no. 7. Address for communication will be selected by default as this address will be updated in the records of ITD.

It is required that any change in the information provided to ITD at the time of making application for allotment of PAN, should be intimated to ITD by way of filing this form.

Is copy of marriage certificate is enough or proof of identity and address is also required with name change application

07 March 2013 Only copy of marriage certificate would be sufficient unless you want to change your address as well.

However there is no harm in sending POI and POA as well.
