Refund cheque -pan-las digit missing

Sirs., We received the refund cheque from SBI. The payment advice bears all correct information including PAN number etc.
Even the cheque is correct in all aspects including ac number. however the last character of PAN ( alphabet check digit ) is missing in the cheque and our bankers are refusing to accept the cheque for clearance. Can someone please advise how to proceed with this. Is this possible or i have to send the cheque back to SBI, Mumbai and wait for another cheque to surface. In that case, how long will the process take? awaiting your valuable advice.

u should meet your jurisdictional Assessing officer and sort the issue.

Thanks for your reply. with the helpof the refund advice , we convinced the bankers to accept the cheque for clearance
