14 September 2011 I am an MBA (Marketing) with 8.5 Years of Work-Ex in Sales, the last 6.5 years being in Sales - Retail Banking with a leading Indian Pvt. Sector Bank.

I am 31 and keen to pursue the CWA course from ICWAI as I intend to build a strong foundation in Finance so that I can pursue it as a career in the long run.

However, am not sure of the benefits the course would offer post completion and if I should enroll for it at all after 8.5 years of work-ex.

Request your inputs.

15 September 2011 To build a strong foundation in Finance it isbetter to do Chartered Accountant course and not Costing course. Because history has proved that a CA can do things which a CWA cannot do.

So why not u try for CA........

15 September 2011 Dear Chitta Ranjan Das,

Appreciate your advise. However, CA would require a compulsory 3 Year of articleship which, in my case, will be difficult as I am already employed and cannot leave my job tu pursue CA.

However, I understand, in case of ICWA, practical training can be exempted upto 2.5 years basis work-ex. A 6 month training in relevant functions of finance completes the student's practical training requirement.

Am opting for ICWA only due to constraints I face between a 3-year articleship (of ICAI) vis-a-vis the Practical Training (of ICWAI).

Request your / experts' inputs.

Request your inputs.

15 September 2011 I agree with the experts

15 September 2011 ICWA is very option for you. your job experience will count and your 3 years articleship will exempt on the basis of job experience.

15 September 2011 Dear Mr. S S Agarwal & Mr. Ravi Sisodia,

Thank You for your advise.

Request your inputs if CWA qualification is valued as much as CA in the Indian corporate sector.

I have read on the ICWAI website that students who pass CWA from ICWAI can also apply for membership with the CIMA,UK through the ICWAI - CIMA MoU route. Kindly provide your inputs if CIMA,UK is valued worldwide.

These may appear to be very basic questions for experienced professionals like you but I seek clarity as I am new to this field.

Regards,

15 September 2011 dear, in CA course 3 years articleship must. you can not do job with articleship becauce ICAI not allows job with articleship.
i agree that CA course is best course ib accounts & finance field. but CWA have good worth in this field. in govt jobs CA & CWA count as equal.

Careers in ICWAI The Cost and Management Accountants facilitate strategic management decision in respect of economic activities of an organization by their sheer expertise.
Study of Cost & Management Accountancy provides in depth knowledge and perspective to manage business under given circumstances. This is a field which provides satisfaction in terms of position as well.
