Do a general reading of the topic firstly couple of times,during third reading you would have some idea of the subject. At this time try to understand what exactly the provision contains and try recollecting the key points or sentences that you have gone though. Try repeating this exercise at regular frequency so that your understanding and re-collecting of topics is on top of your mind and you are in command over the subject.
If possible, you should make your own hand written notes and revise it on a regular basis.
