I am confuses relating to the exact basis for leving of professional tax on what amount and also the prevailing rates under which section??

Professional tax is levied by state government. In most of th.e state, where it is applicable, it is based on slab giving exemption to certain level of salary. Hence you have to check as per your state's provision
