Prof tax & tds

This query is : Resolved

11 February 2012 I HEARD THAT IF I CUT TDS FROM SOMEONE SALARY THAN HE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR PROFESSIONAL TAX. IT MEANS WHEN PERSON WHO IS LIABLE FOR TDS IS NOT LIABLE FOR PROFESSIONAL TAX

PLEASE GIVE ON URGENT BASIS

11 February 2012 Profession tax and Income tax are two difference statutes and PT and TDS has no interlink.. PT is to be deducted under PT act and TDS is to be deducted under the IT act..

15 February 2012 Payment made to persons as professional fees where TDS is liable after the limit, does not attract PT.

Otherwise PT is liable on salary paid to employees even if we deduct TDS.

Rightly said by CA Hari.. these are diff statutes
