Physical share selling

This query is : Resolved

21 November 2013 Dear All,
I have 100 nos. Physical Shares in my and my wifes name of a BSE Listed company,
and I wanted to sell this at minimum expense,
i contacted company registrar he told me to open first demat account and then sell shares,
so please can anybody give me full guidance what are the necessities to open demat account and how to convert physical share to demat and how much time and money it takes approx,
I also need to apply for pan card but is it required to apply for my wife's pan card? or without it i can open demat and sell?

I am in Gandhinagar, Gujarat location and shares are of Ahmedabad, gujarat locations.

22 November 2013 yes. the PAN for your wife is also required.

the conversion of physical to demat shall depend on the company.

you need demat account to hold the shares in non-physical form.
