Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have to possess requisite percentage of marks / grade point average in qualifying examination as indicated below:
The required minimum qualification for admission to a Ph.D programme shall normally be a Master’s Degree from any accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks or Equivalent Grade.
Applicants with M. Tech / M.Sc. qualification in respective disciplines with excellent academic record with minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 55% marks may be considered eligible for admission in Ph.D. programmes in Engineering and Technology.
Applicants with M.B.B.S. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record with minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 55% marks) may be considered eligible for admission to Ph.D. programmes in the relevant field.
For Ph.D. in Law, the applicants should possess: Master’s degree in Law with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade or M. Phil in law or LL.B Degree with 55% of marks with at least 15 years of legal practice or experience in a judicial / legal job with published professional work or otherwise proven research interest. These candidates will be treated as Corporate Research Scholar.
Applicants with Chartered Accountancy (CA) Qualification from ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI) with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade may be considered eligible for admission to Ph.D. programmes in the field of Commerce and other related areas of Ph.D. in Management.
Important Points
Date of Registration
The date of registration of the candidate shall be the date of payment of fees. The Registration period will end on the date of submission of Ph.D thesis. Residency Period
As per Amity University Regulations, a Ph.D. Candidate including Part Time candidates, need to complete the Residency period of one year, which may be reduced to 6 months only in exceptional cases, with justification and approval by the University Authorities. For full time candidates the residency requirement will be for the entire degree duration. Attendance Requirement
Minimum 75% attendance is required during residency period. Course Work
All candidates admitted to Ph. D. programmes is to compulsorily do the course work assigned and shall be required to take a written examination for the same. A candidate will earn credits for a Course Unit only if he obtains a minimum of Grade B+ (Points 07 on scale of 10). If a candidate fails to get qualifying Grade B+, he / she will be given second opportunity to improve his/her qualifying Grade to B+, i.e. Point 7 on ten point scale failing which his/her registration is liable to be cancelled. For part-time candidates classes are arranged on week-ends. Comprehensive Examination
Each candidate, on completion of course work, shall be required to take a comprehensive examination which will test his/her comprehension or knowledge in his/her broad field of research and his/her academic preparation and potentials to carry out the research work. The comprehensive examination shall be combination of both written and oral examinations and shall be conducted by the faculty. The candidate is required to secure at least Grade B (Points 06 on scale of 10) in comprehensive examination. Minimum and Maximum Degree Duration

Note: The minimum period of three years for Part-time Corporate Research Scholars having rich experience while working with reputed organizations in India and abroad may be reduced to two years, on the recommendations of Research Committee (RC) of the concerned Board of Faculty.
Application Procedure
Applications for admission to Ph. D Programs are accepted throughout the year. Ph.D. Programmes at Amity University are offered both on Full Time and Part Time basis. “Full-time Candidate” shall mean a candidate devoting full time for completing the requirements of the programme and “Part-time Candidate” shall mean a candidate who is devoting only a part of his time towards the pursuit of the Programme while discharging his official/employment obligations.

Attested copies of all the mark sheets / certificates from class X onwards till last completed semester / year Documents of work experience, if any NOC of Employer, in case applicant is working anywhere. Admission / Registration Procedure
The eligible candidates will be required to take entrance test followed by the Interview on the date fixed by the University. The Qualified candidates, who clear the Entrance test and Interview, will be issued offer letter for Registration. The Candidate will be required to pay prescribed fee for getting registered by the due date.
Procedure for Ph. D. Registration for Foreign Nationals
Foreign National Candidates must produce an Equivalence Certificate for their qualifying degree, issued from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at the time of submission of application. The application for admission to Ph.D will be considered only after the Equivalence Certificate is submitted by the Candidate.
Following documents are required to be produced, at the time of application:
Application Form Degree Certificates together with the year-wise Academic Transcript duly authenticated by the Indian Embassy in the country or its concerned Foreign Mission in India. Accreditation Status of the University / Institute which the student has last attended. Equivalence certificate of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Synopsis of the proposed research work. Mark sheets and Degree certificates of Post Graduation &Graduation. Mark sheets & Certificates of 10th & 12th classes. Documents of work experience, if any NOC of Employer, in case applicant is working. Demand Draft of Rs. 1100/- in favour of ‘Amity Forms’ payable at Noida / Delhi.
Foreign National Candidates while applying for the Ph. D. Programme at Amity University Uttar Pradesh should also fulfill the following conditions at the time of offer of admission letter:
All International students wishing to undertake any research work or join a PhD or M Phil Programmes will have to obtain prior security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the approval of Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and this must be on the Research VISA endorsed to Amity University. No other endorsement will be accepted. The visa should be valid for the prescribed duration of the course. This is applicable to diplomats also. Submission of medical test report within a week from the date of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner OR a Medical Practitioner nominated by Amity University. Adequate Medical Insurance Cover. All Foreign / NRI students will be required to register themselves with the concerned District Foreign Registration Officer / Foreigners Regional Registration Officers, within 14 days of first arrival in India. For any study / Programme to be undertaken at Amity University, approval of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Govt. of India is required through Protocol Division.
