Hi, I am a PAN card holder for last 8 years, and have been filing tax returns regularly. Unfortunately, because of my oversight, i missed to observe that the Father's name is incorrectly spelt in the PAN card. I don't remember, if it was a mistake on my part in filling the name incorrectly, or on the IT dept when they issued the PAN.
Now, i want to know, how i can get this corrected, after 8 years.

You can now give for correction. You have to download the pan correction form from nsdl website and after duly filling in the required corrections alongwith proff and old pan copy you have to submit at authorised centers along with the required fee. Within 15 to 20days the same will be corrected and new parn card will be delivered to you.

Hi All, Thank you for your reponses. I had read about the PAN correction form and procedure in questions and responses from some other members.
My worry is about - getting the PAN details corrected after using it for 8 years - does it impact the tax returns filed in earlier years? Secondly, in PAN correction procedure - will I get the same PAN number, or something else?

there will be no problem for the filed return. PAN number will be same. You will have to submit document which will have correct name like ration card, driving license, bank statement, etc

The said mistake will not harm you for the 8 years return filed. If called for you can prove that it was an inadvertent mistake with the subsequent correction. If corrected, upon your request, the PAN will not change.
