06 April 2009 Upto 10.5K it is complusory, in case the basic salary is more than 10.5K then it is optional on employee to opt for PF. In case he wish not to opt for PF then establishment needs to take the delcaration for that.

Please note that the limit of 6.5K has been increased to 10.5K.
