Not having service tax no.

If any firm has excise no. but not service tax no, whether the firm can take the service tax benefit of the services related to the production or not eligible to take the benefit unless and until it has the service tax no. Please help...

27 June 2011 to take credit under CCR2004, under excise head, the manufacturer can take credit without registering himself under service tax.

BUT, service tax on GTA is to be paid by service receipent, here the excise manufacturer has to obtain service tax regn to discharge the tax liability.
