non-receipt of acknowledgement of ITR V

This query is : Resolved

09 February 2010 I have sent ITR-V (duly signed by the assessee) to IT Department, Bangalore three times. But have not received the acknowledgement till now. About two months have gone. What I should do????

09 February 2010 Log in to e-filing website. Go to my account. Check e-filing status. If they have received ITR-V status will be displayed and receipt can be downloaded.
If result is -ve and time expired, only alternative is, as u know, file the return again and sent ITR-V to Bangalore by speed post(now permitted).

09 February 2010 yes do as expert says bcs there is no need to send ITR-V for more than one time even there is a time limit of 30/60 days to send this ITR-V to banglore so you have to log in and check status of your efilling in case you don't found then filed again and send it as perscribed time limit by ordionary post only.

09 February 2010 The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to extend the time limit for filing the ITR-V form relating to income tax returns filed electronically (without digital signature) on or after April 1 last year.

The form can now be filed upto March 31 this year or within a period of 120 days from the data of uploading of the electronic return data, whichever is later.

An official press release said the ITR-V form should, as earlier, be sent by ordinary post to Post Bag No.1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore - 560100 (Karnataka).

However, in cases where e-mail acknowledgement for the ITR-V form is not received by the tax-payer from the Centralised Processing Centre (CPC), Bangalore, the tax-payer may send another duly signed ITR-V form by speed post to Centralized Processing Centre, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore, Karnataka- 560100.

The release said the decision was taken in relaxation of the stipulation in Circular No. 3/2009 dated 21.05.2009 which allows taxpayers who file their income tax returns in electronic form without digital signature to submit their ITR-V form, duly verified and signed, within a period of 30 days thereafter.

The relaxation has been made following requests from taxpayers that, as a one-time measure, the time limit for filing of ITR-V form may be extended to 31 March 2010 and that alternative modes of submission of ITR-V form may also be provided in cases where an ITR-V form has not been received at the CPC by ordinary post.

09 February 2010 thanks for your reply sir,
