NAME DOES NOT MATCH WITH TAN NAME AS PER CSI FILE

This query is : Resolved

23 January 2023 WHILE GENERATING THE FILE FOR FILING TDS RETURN I AM GETTING THE MESSAGE "NAME DOES NOT MATCH WITH TAN NAME AS PER CSI FILE". EARLIER WHILE DOWNLOADING THE CSI FILE FROM NSDL PORTAL, THERE WERE NO SUCH ISSUES. BUT WHEN I AM DOWNLOAD THE CSI FILE FROM INCOME TAX PORTAL I AM GETTING THE ABOVE MESSAGE.

09 July 2024 The error message "Name does not match with TAN name as per CSI file" typically indicates a mismatch between the name associated with the TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) in your TDS return and the name as per the CSI (Consolidated Statement of Information) file that you are uploading.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. **Verify TAN Name:** Double-check the name associated with your TAN. You can verify this on the Income Tax Department's TAN registration portal or through your TDS account.

2. **Check CSI File:** Ensure that the CSI file you are uploading from the Income Tax portal matches the correct TAN and has the correct name associated with it.

3. **Correct Data Entry:** When filling out your TDS return, ensure that the TAN details and name match exactly as per the CSI file you downloaded.

4. **Download CSI File Again:** Sometimes, errors can occur during the download process. Try downloading the CSI file again from the Income Tax portal and ensure it is not corrupted.

5. **File Format:** Check if the file format (ASCII format, as required) and structure of the CSI file are correct. Any deviation from the required format can cause errors.

**Contact Support:** If the issue persists despite these checks, contact the helpdesk or support team of the Income Tax Department or NSDL for assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your situation.

**Professional Help:** If you are unable to resolve the issue yourself, consider consulting a tax professional or a CA who can assist you in ensuring compliance and resolving technical issues with filing TDS returns.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the mismatch issue between the TAN name and the CSI file, allowing you to successfully generate and file your TDS return.
