01 January 2018 Sir / Madam,

I have my investments in mutual fund - SIPs and lumpsums. I have a query as to whether the maturity of the mutual funds is subjected to tax under Capital Gains ??

Kindly guide me as regards this.

Thank you.

01 January 2018 Taxability is dependent on type of fund. If Equity fund then no CGT but in case of debt fund CGT is applicable

01 January 2018 Sir, I have invested in Balanced Funds. So should it be taxed inspite of maturity being after 4-5 years ?

30 September 2021 Balance funds are a type of equity fund (being 65% or more in equity), so, any LTCG is exempt in IT act.
