Mention of different bank account

This query is : Resolved

21 July 2015 i am a salaried person and my wife is a housewife.my wife is not having PAN and dont have any income.
Apart from my salary linked savings bank account i have an additional joint savings account with my wife as primary account holder and me as secondary account holder. Also my kids account (saving as well as RD) have been linked to the said joint account.Sometimes fund transfer through internet banking has been done from my salary account to the above-mentioned joint account.Total interest income in the wife's joint account is less than 10000 during current financial year 2014-15.

In the present ITR 1 there is provision for mentioning different account details.whether the same (above-mentioned joint account) needs to be mentioned in ITR 1 for myself for assessment year 2015-16.

22 July 2015 There is no provision in the ITR 1 to mention whether the account is joint or not. In your case since your wife is a primary account holder you may not mention the joint account. Dormant account means which is though not closed is not operated during the previous year i.e. there were no transactions during the year. Such accounts are not required to be mentioned in ITR.
