membership of a company

This query is : Resolved

24 January 2008 dear all,
which section of companies act provides that a partnership firm cannot become a member of a company?

24 January 2008 Section 41 prescribes that members will have to be 'persons'. Person means a natural person, which includes only individuals and corporates. If a share is registered in the name of partnership, then the partners become joint holders and the firm is not considered as the member of that company.

24 January 2008 FULLY AGREE WITH SRI SRINIVASA RAGHAVAN.
SHARES CAN STAND IN THE NAME OF PARTNERS NOT IN FIRM NAME
