I want to know what is the maximum limit allowed as medical allowance and I have incureed Rs.30000/- for Knee Operation expenses of my mother I want to know can I claim that amount U/s 80 DDB and What are the Specified Disease or Ailment as prescribed by the board.

medical allowance is fully taxable. for you exp on operation of mother you can get full 30000/- deduction. it is 40000/- or exp whichever is less. But for senior citizen max limit is 60000/-
