08 October 2009 Why are companies like Life insurance corporation and State bank of India (which is a listed entity) not registered with the ministry of corporate affairs?

08 October 2009 These companies are called Statutory Companies.

Statutory Companies means company registered/formed under their own statute/act passed by the parliament. Statutory Companies are not covered by Companies Act, 1956 and relatively rare today.
