We are the first stage dealer. We are maintaining RG23D register in SAP as well as in hard copy. My query is according to which central excise rules it is compulsary to maintain RG23d register? If there is any notification or circular regarding this then please give details of it.

Circular No. 96 dated 13.02.1995 is the basic circular of central excise wherein it was mandatority provided to maintain RG23D Register which later modified by Circular No. 536 dated 30.06.2000.
