22 June 2010 if the owner's 1 unit of business exceeds turnover of rs.10 lacs.he closes the 1st unit & start another unit in same business line where turnover does not exceed rs.10 lacs;whether service tax is liable?
plz rply.

22 June 2010 The taxable turnover limit is to be applied per person and not unit wise/busine line wise separately.

In the given facts, Service tax applicable on receipt towards taxable service in excess of Rs. 10L.

Since the TO of unit 1 exceeds Rs. 10L, entire TO of another unit shall be taxable.
