If process amounts to manufacture then excise duty will be applicable. If principle manufacturer have paid the duty then no need to pay service tax on job work activity.

What is the difference between manufacture and production? If it is given on a job work won't it be obviously for manufacturing? Whom are you refering for service tax here?
