Hi, I have received a mail saying ITRV for 2011 is not recieved at CPC,I am a complete illiterate when it comes to Income tax.How do I check my tax statement? What is ITRV?Please do help! Thank you, Sushma
In case of income tax returns filed in online without digital signature , Income tax department check the authenticity of income tax return. In such case after filing return you receive ITR-V(verification) but your filing is still incomplete.
To complete the process print and sign on ITR-V and send the same to
Income Tax Department CPC, Post Box No.1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore 560100, Karnataka.
Upon receipt of ITR-V, Income Tax Department will send an e-mail acknowledging the receipt of signed copy of ITR-V. This is your acknowledgement.

ITRV stands for Income Tax Return Verification Form. If you file your return online without your Digital Singature then the receipt generated is known as ITR V. It is not an Acknowledgement. Though it acknowledges your online submission but does not process your return unless you submit physically signed copy of ITRV to the CPC within 120 days. They have extended the time limit upto 31.12.2012.
If you fail to submit your physically signed ITR V to CPC within the prescribed time limit then your online submitted return would not be taken on record and you would be treated as if you have not filed your return for 2011.
