23 July 2010 My mother is a state government pensioner..her pension is directly credited into her savings bank account. I believe the pension office deducts TDS before crediting her pension into the bank account.

While filing her ITR online, apart from mentioning her income from pension, how can she proove that TDS has been deducted from her pension amount? Is there any TDS certificate that is issued by the pension office? I have tried to check online at NSDL website and viewed her Form 26AS...however, there is no details of tax deducted or any other tax credits.

Kindly help as the due date for tax filing is approaching and I am very confused :-(

23 July 2010 HOW MUCH IS THE PENSION, I DONT THINK IT WILL TAXABLE INCOME SO THEY MIGHT NOT DEDUCTED..

23 July 2010 Agree with BAlasubramanya. If you still are so sure of the TDS, better enquire from the concerned Pension Office/ her ex-employer (i.e., state govt).

23 July 2010 The income of my mother is Rs 23,200 per month - which is clearly above the tax exemption limit of Rs 190,000 p.a.

Kindly help.

23 July 2010 YOUR MOTHER IS SENIOR CITIZEN OR BELOW...

23 July 2010 IF SENIOR CITIZEN, THEN EXEMPTION LT IS 2.4 LACS. iN ANY CASE, IF U HAVE NOT GIVEN ANY SAVING PROOF U/S80c, THEY MIGHT BE DEDUCTING TDS, SO DO ENQUIRE FROM THEM
