HI experts, I assume that the companies going for IPO's are issuing equity shares. Is there any company issuing preference shares? Any company's preference share is now listed in the exchange?

In recent times there is no company issuing preference shares. pref. shares are not traded in any stock exchange. and ur right companies come out with equity shares IPO.

I KNOW SEVERAL LISTED COMPANIES INCL. ONE WHERE I WORKED, ALL HAVE ISSUED REDEEMABLE AND CUM. PREF. SHARES. BUT THESE PREF. SHARES ARE NOT LISTED IN ANY STOCK EXCHANGE FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THEY ARE ISSUED TO A GROUP DISTINCTLY KNOWN TO PROMOTER GROUPS OR THEIR LENDERS OR CLOSELY RELATED OR AN ANGEL INVESTOR AND HENCE NOT MEANT FOR TRADING . HENCE NO REASON TO LIST. I AGREE WITH SOHILJI THAT IN RECENT TIMES THIS CATEGORY OF SHARES ARE NOT ISSUED EXCEPT FOR SPECIFIC BORROWING PURPOSE FROM PARTICULAR LENDER. R.V.RAO

Thanks Mr.Sohil and Mr.Rao for the clarification. Just want to know the rights of the preference shareholders compared to equity shareholders? Do they have equal rights with respect to voting etc.,?
