24 December 2010 Hello Experts/Members,

My queries are as follows:-

(1) At present i am not holding a degree of CA and i have registered to be a Life insurance agent. Can i act as insurance agent and sell policies now and till i get degree. Further, whether i can continue to receive renewal premium commission after getting my COP?

(2) If i wish to make my career in Insurance sector, can i become agent for more than 1 company?. Can i carry out both Life Insurance and General Insurance Agency.? Can i do my own business along with carrying out insurance agency work.

(3) Can i do practice along with business in my name along with holding insurance agency.

(4) Finally, is it worthwhile to enter into insurance agency business now

Hope to get ur guidance

Thank you.

25 December 2010 1. If u r a CA student, and acting as insurance agent, then need to fill form 109 nd submit to ICAI seeking permission for such job. Otherwise, it may hinder ur studentship at ICAI.....

25 December 2010 2. Yes, i think one can go for both, i.e life insurance and general insurance together. But after being a full-time practitioner, u cannot carry on ur insurance agency work anymore....

25 December 2010 3. U can act as part-time practitioner partner in some firm and can carry on ur insurance agency....... 4. I find it difficult to get, how can u rely to insurance agency job more than practicing ca....

27 December 2010 Thank you sir for your guidance. Regarding last question, i have seen many insurance agents working more professionally and earning much more than a practicing CA. However, second your opinion that practicing as a CA is better. Thank you once again for guidance.
