Income tax is tax on income. It is a DIRECT TAX. Professional tax is a tax for those who carry trade, profession or calling. This can be claimed as expenditure under income tax.

Income tax is levied and collected by the Central Government whereas the Professional Tax is levied and collected by the state Government. For other information I agree with the expert
