My one client is doctor and he filed his income tax return for last five year with nominal amount of tax. But during the assessment year 2007-08 his gross Incomeis Rs.94452/- ie below taxable limit of Rs.1 lac. I tried my best to file the return to Income tax department, but the same has not been accepted by the department, as explaination given as
1. gross taxable income below taxable limit and no need to file return.
Pls advise me, what I can to avoid problem in future.

Dear Friend, I will like to tell you that whether you are having taxable income or not and if you are filing income tax return the IT department should accept the same if it is in prescribed manner. Moreover if you want to file your clients return you can also file the same electronically through internet. The related webaddress is www.incometaxindia.gov.in

E FILING IS BEST IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES.IF YOU FILE WITHOUT DIGITAL SIGNATURE,THEN YOU NEED TO SUBMIT PHYSICALLY, THE ACK. OF EFILING TO THE IT DEPT AFTER E FILING. YOU HAVE TIME TILL 31 ST MARCH IF NO TAX IS DUE AND REMEMBER YOU CANNOT FILE REVISED RETURN SINCE (IF) THE RETURN WAS NOT FILED BEFORE DUE DATE. R.V.RAO

As stated by others,I.T.Dept. cannot deny the return filed by the assessee. In such a case you can file e-return or you sent the return by RPD with ack.

Sir, I can not find any reason of non acceptaance by department. In your case either you can approach to the higher authorities or you can send your return vide post (regd. with AD).
