This query is : Resolved

23 April 2009 Would the recent judgement of the Hon'ble Delhi high court have the impact on the property in chandigarh ...?

The tenant at Chandigarh (member of retailers association of india) stopped the payment of service tax wef September 2008 after the interim relief was granted by the Hon'ble Mumbai High court. Now, what should be the stand of the landlord, is he required to deposit the service tax on rent recieved though the service tax compoent has not been paid by the tenant?

23 April 2009 It is a central levy, it will have impact across india irrespective of the state.

No need to pay at all, if not paid for the past period, the judgement holds good from the very begining when the levy was introduced
