HRA EXEMPTION DISALLOWED

14 March 2008 Generally exemption for HRA is allowed to all employees except those specifically stated in the Act i.e.. employees who are staying in their own house.One of my client who is a state govt. employee who is residing in the quarters provided by the Department and he claims for HRA exemption in respect of rent paid to the Dept.But the Department has not accepted his stand and stating that when the quarters is occupied by the employee he cannot claim HRA .
STATE WHETHER IT IS CORRECT

14 March 2008 If the Govt. Providing the Govt. Quarter then HRA will not be payable.

Govt. either pay HRA or give the Accommodation not the both.

14 March 2008 Is there is any specific notification \ circulars in this regard. If so please state that also


14 March 2008 is it confirm that assessee is getting HRA and Accommodation both Simultaneously

14 March 2008 Yes it is confirm that he gets the both. State your email id also.

15 March 2008 THAN THERE WILL BE NO EXEMPTION IN CASE OF HRA AND ALL THE SUM PAID AS HRA SHALL BE TAXABLE
