One of my client works at kota as a salaried employee.he has not any house in kota and lives on rent but he has a house in jaipur in which his family lives. he is receiving HRA from his employer.
My question is that in this condition HRA will exempt or not ?

05 March 2016 yes, he can claim HRA u/s 10(13A) least of the three will be exempt
Least of:

Actual HRA received
50 percent of basic salary
Excess of rent paid over 10 percent of salary
