10 December 2012 Respected Sir,
I am paying Rs.4000/- per month as the House Rent in Kalyan(Mumbai) and I am receiving from my salary Rs.1390/- as HRA per month. I want to know that can I claim Rs.48000/-(4000*12)as a tax saving under section 10. If No, then how much can I claim HRA for tax saving?

10 December 2012 Amount = to 50% of Salary
(If house is in bombay)

HRA Received

Excess of Rent paid over 10 % of Salary

Lower of above..

So u can not claim more than HRA Received by you...
