06 February 2010 is there any rent agreement is required for aviling of HRA exemption or RENT receipt is sufficient ubder income tax law

To avail the benefit of HRA Rent Slips are sufficient proof.
you have to submit your rent receipts to your employer.

06 February 2010 In Case the Rent is Below Rs.3000 p.m then no rent receipts are required, declaration is sufficient.
If rent is more than Rs.5000 p.m then Quarterly rent recipt is sufficient. Also if paid in cash then, revenue stamp of Rs 2 is required.
If rent is more than Rs.10000 p.m thne PAN no. of the Owner is also required.
