11 January 2008 Generator hired from Andhra Pradash and invoice, insted of service tax they charge a VAT. If it is correct pl give one example. Paying Company is engaged in the Service sector.

The hiring of generator attracts service tax and not VAT.

VAT is invoked whenever there is purchase / sale of an item.

The bill need to be corrected.
