in ahmedabad. As a nepalese citizen searching CA for articleship( i have met many, but they have expressed their disability as their quota is full as well as venting anger at the policy of icai not to accomodate growing CPT clearants in other fields of corporate world); i wanna know what should i do to open bank acc in SBI,etc so that i can get my monthly allowance from my parents in nepal...
i do need a SIM card, how to acquire one in my own name...
Actually i joined navkar institute b4 i procured articleship...yesterday, a CA told me that i did a wrong step...plz suggest

You can easily open a bank account, if not in SBI try it in other nationalised bank or ICICI bank.

But the managers or clerks are not sure whether i cud open an account there. After all, there are thousands of students and lakhs of Nepalese working (esp in army) here in india....
I just want to open a current account. My uncle in AHMD says that an acount in ICICI would be costly for a student like me as they charge exorbitant bank fees; he suggested SBI coz this is the only indian bank having full-fledged branches in Nepal and that would easy for my parents to send money.
Is there a technique (assuming i open an SBI current acc in ahmd_) ; and my parents wanna send me rs 1ok from KTM, is my money deposited in my ahmd a/c the day they deposit that cash to SBI-kathmandu??

Open student account which is zero balance. Please do not get frustrated. My students have zero balance account in ICICI which is helpful for credit of stipend. Good Luck.

I am not aware of it with SBI. ICICI on student id open student account. I think SBI has a minimum balance of Rs.1000. In this case if you maintain average quarterly balance of Rs.1000 I think it is possible.

I will adivse you to contact the nearest branch manager as they will be the best people to help you. The copy of your passport and birth certifcate, temporary address proof will be required.
