I've completed diploma after my 10th in bangalore and have been working since 2004. Now I have joined hands with a friend of mine and have started to take care of Fin, HR and Admin part. But I see that there is immense opportunity for growth and finance will get tougher to handle without any knowledge in the subject. Therefore, assuming I have 4 years in my hand to grow along with the company, I was looking for a course in Finance. Could anyone of you help me and guide me in the proper manner I should be going?
I would be greatly thankful to you all in the forum.

U can go for MBA in finance from Symbiosis, Pune which is regular as well as correspondence. Or u can go for MBA from IGNOU, which is distance learning course.
I am currently a part of this new IT firm we have set up. Its like my own, I'm co-owner of this company and I have the responsibility of finance. We have a CA though, however, I would like to know things myself and understand his terminology. All this days we were still very new and just few of us as a team, however, we have envisaged a growth of 50% and above in the coming year, which means a lot of transaction and a lot more calculations that my simple book keeping and cash flow maintenance. I would like to know more and go in-depth in finance. We are planning for ESOPs for employees in the coming years and I should know the subject better than just let it all to the CA we have hired. I hope I have explained myself vividly. Please Q me so that I can be to the point. Thanks in advance for replying to my previous Q. Looking forward for help!

Dear Divya,
Like I have mentioned earlier, I have just completed my Diploma after my 10th grade. Then took off working as an employee in 2005. Since 2010 I worked as freelance consultant and therefore hold little knowledge about finance (Mostly personal), so I am bewildered now with finance for a It company. Besides, I checked on ICWAI web, it says one needs to be a graduate to pursue a course. However, diploma after 10th is not considered graduation (its a undergrad post). The liberty of starting this organisation came from being independent all through my career in the past. And never found difficulty as I was all by myself. Now that I am running this show (operations) I am keen on learning more.

1st thing you need to do is to pass 12th. The shortest way to do that is to write the 12th exam with NOS (national open school), which will take one year (by June 2013, you will finish). Regular 12th takes 2 years.
After this, you need to go for BBA or BBM degree which you can pursue part time. This is again 3 years Course. This is the best possible you can do in 4 years.
If you would have done 12th, i would have suggested you CWA or CS. But the combination I have suggested, will give you a fair idea of Finance, taxation and Administration. Also, it involves a normal amount of effort. For CS/CWA, you need to dedicate your time. and Since you are already managing a company, it would be difficult for you.

True Shashank, but isnt it like 4yrs on time and by then our company would look very different with its shape and structure... How much of BBA or BBM would help in 4 yrs of my work... while i am still pursuing? Besides I also thought of one sitting degree program (one university I found is CMJ university) which will provide a facilitate for 3 years exams to be taken and get through in one year however the options are limited (BA Generals and others)after that could it be possible to do these fin courses?

Shashank, I always wondered why 10+3 is considered equivalent to 10+2; Where one year is additional to 10+2, for higher studies? Do you know?
17 July 2012
Yes, indeed a 3 year diploma course in Electronics and telecom. It is a year extra when compared to 10+2, isn't it? then why should it not be considered for any other degree program? this is very inquisitive. Anyway, the whole thing is financial insecurity those days that I couldn't pursue my BE, but now that the fact is I dint stop my life with that, I went on to struggle and fight for a better living, then here I am, with a new company (though not fully mine) as a co-owner. The challenge now is, if I can use my energy and time more efficiently and make this education a little more significant that it could have been and take it forward? I know I am very well capable of working it out practically, study it all myself, but the other fact is that there is nothing like what you study, knowledge when given from a teacher is different and when learnt by oneself is different. So its the urge to be there in the competitive world, just like everyone is. For all the experience I have gained as a freelancer, the degree that I will earn will add another feather to my cap and make me more confident and approachable in my current position. Thats why I'm urging so much for the right help. Keeping my age, my experience and my credibility in mind, I thus come forward to look for something that can help me achieve things better. Humm.... guess I'm taking a lot of time of your dear shashank. Sorry if I bothered you.
I assume myself responsible to provide fair and practical solutions to the query authors. The concern is your problem, not my time, which I am trying to resolve.
My friend, please don't think like this. If I find anything I will get back to you.
Shashank
