02 October 2014 Is it mandatory to claim Gratuity exemption under section 10(10).

Does an assessee has the option to include the entire amount of Gratuity received in Total Income and do not reduce the amount as per exemption provided under section 10(10).

02 October 2014 What could possibly be the reason? Why would someone want to not claim the exemption and pay higher tax?
But if anyone wishes to not claim the exemption then it may be done. Department will never raise question why you did not claim the exemption.
