Foreign income + taxes

This query is : Resolved

08 November 2011 How can freelancers in India, supporting a foreign organisation like the UN (United Nations) receive payments?
Can the employer directly credit into a regular savings acount in India ? What are the charges/ fees will this attract ?

As the salary earned from the UN is tax free (As per UN norms)... will one still have to pay direct taxes in India ?

08 November 2011 There is no issue in receiving the payments, but the same would be subject to tax as the income so received is not salary.
