Yes it is compulsory for the firm to file the return.
No matter profit is nil or not an audit case.
Return has to be filed.

27 March 2016 We have not filed return since 11-12 now what needs to do. can we file return for that period.

You can file return only foe the fy 13-14 and onwards.
You can not file itr for fy prior to 13-14.
