19 October 2015 As per sec 57 assessee is permitted to deduct 1/3rd of family pension or 15k whichever is lower. Why such deduction is allowed?

19 October 2015 Since, such pension is paid on death of a pension to his surviving family members, it is shown under Income from other Sources and standard deduction is allowed.
