Exemption of conveyance allowance

can anyone please confirm me that, in order to claim exemption u/s 10(14)(i) of conveyance allowance, is it mandatory to submit bills / declaration to employer by the employee ?

05 April 2012 No bills are not required to be given but as a proof of local travellig/conveyance, you will have to provide the detailed sheet for the same.
