20 April 2009 IS THERE ANY EXEMPTION UNDER EXCISE FOR THE CO WHO IS REGISTERED UNDER NSIC

02 May 2009 Sorry what do you mean by the abbreviation?

21 July 2024 The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) provides various benefits and support to small-scale industries (SSI), but it does not directly grant exemption from excise duty. However, small-scale industries (SSI) registered with NSIC can avail of certain benefits under the Central Excise regime, which include:

1. **Exemption Limit**: Small-scale industries (SSI) are eligible for exemption from excise duty up to a specified turnover limit. This exemption threshold may vary based on the prevailing notifications issued by the Central Government.

2. **Concessional Duty Rates**: Even if not fully exempt, SSI units registered with NSIC may benefit from concessional rates of excise duty on their manufactured goods. These rates are typically lower than the standard excise duty rates applicable to larger manufacturers.

3. **Simplified Compliance**: SSI units enjoy certain simplifications in compliance procedures, such as reduced paperwork and compliance requirements.

4. **CENVAT Credit**: SSI units registered under NSIC may also avail of CENVAT credit on inputs used in the manufacturing process. This allows them to offset the excise duty paid on inputs against the excise duty payable on final products.

To benefit from these provisions, a company registered under NSIC should ensure it meets all eligibility criteria and complies with the relevant rules and notifications issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). It's advisable to regularly check for updates and specific notifications related to excise duty exemptions and concessions for SSI units registered with NSIC.
